Renewing Camaraderie with our IEM and PII

The Institution of Engineers, Singapore (IES) is pleased to play host to the delegations from the Institution of Engineers, Malaysia (IEM) and Persatuan Insinyur Indonesia (PII) as the 3rd edition of SIJORI tripartite collaboration meeting was held in the IES office on 11 February 2025 after the group have attended the World Engineering Day 2025: Charles Rudd Distinguished Global Lectures in the morning.

The SIJORI Growth Triangle is a partnership arrangement between Singapore, Johor (in Malaysia), and Riau Islands (in Indonesia) that combines the competitive strengths of the three areas to make the subregion more attractive to regional and international investors. More specifically, it links the infrastructure, capital, and expertise of Singapore with the natural and labour resources and the abundance of land of Johor and Riau.

The first 2 editions of the SIJORI tripartite meetings were held in Batam and Johor Bahru respectively on 18 January and 24 August 2024. The meeting on 11 February 2025 saw 21 representatives being well represented from the 3 national institutions of Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia.

Various areas of collaborations have been raised during the meeting, which include but not restricting to technical visits in each other country, inviting start-ups from the 3 countries to be involved in the incubator startup programme, attending each other’s events, organising joint-conference, CPD for training agreement,  and skills training, among others.

Do stay tuned for more updates on the partnerships and collaborations to boost the ASEAN economic outlook.
